National Bike Travel Weekend Hood Canal Bike Tour June 3, 4, and 5

Christopher Susi  | Published on Friday, March 11, 2016
Get your touring rigs ready.  Our first tour of the season will be in conjunction with the Adventure Cycling Association's National Bike Travel Weekend initiative.

We will leave from a location to be determined, but somewhere near the Silverdale Mall at 0900 on Jun 3rd. \ Our route will take us over the Hood Canal Bridge and through the community of Quilcene (great pie).  We will then pedal over Walker mountain and down through Brinnon on our way to Dosewallips State Park, our first overnight.  Mileage is approximately 48 for the first day.

The next morning we will head out along the fairly flat SR101 as we work our way around the canal through such communities as Eldon, Lilliwaup and Hoodsport on our way to Twanoh State Park our second overnight.  In Union, about 15 miles south of Twanoh we can stop for ice cream and electrolyte replacement beverages for the evening, (if you don't mind carrying them 15 miles. Mileage is approximately 43 for June 4th.

On June 5th we head back to the start point via SR 106.  We can stop in Belfair for breakfast before riding the quiet Old Belfair Highway.  There are several route options for riders once near Gorst. Riders can decide how they want to get back to Silverdale at that point.  Mileage for the last day is approximately 30.
